Public Transport Information Technologies

Purpose and benefits

Provides functionality similar to, but with a more visual way.

The routes are shown on a Google map. Transit instructions are short but comprehensible - written in full sentences with key facts emphasized and accompanied with icons.

Comparison of different routes is easy. Number of changes, amount of walking and total duration of the route are marked in a clear way.

Go to Reittiopas.

If your browser supports geolocation, it will ask you if you want to share your location with the service. If you allow your browser to share your location, and your location can be determined, the address of your position will be set to the from field of the route search form and the green marker will be placed to your position on the map. The red marker (end of the route) and the to input field (destination) in the route search form are pre-set to the center of Helsinki.

You can change the route by entering new addresses to the route search form fields or by dragging the green and red markers on the map. The routes are updated automatically as soon as you change either from or to address or marker.

The route search form and advanced options should be self explanatory.

Route options are shown as boxes on the right hand side of the map. By hovering over a box, you can see the path of the route on the map. If information about the real time location of the vechiles used on the route is available (and the date and time of your search correspond to current date and time), the vechiles are also shown on the map. (They may take some seconds to appear. The locations of the vechiles are updated once a minute.)

If there are traffic exceptions that may affect a route, an exclamation sign is shown in the header bar or the route. When hovering over the route box, information about the exceptions is shown on the left side of the route box.

Click on the [+] or [-] links on the header bar of each route to expand and collapse route details. Hover over a leg description in the route box: the leg path on the map is emphasized. Click on a leg description: you'll get a map close-up of the start of the leg.

You can use the same URL parameters than with the HSL reittiopas ( See e.g. advanced form fields enabled by default.
